Last week, CanCham PRD took part in The Alberta Investment Round Table, which took place in Guangzhou on January 25, 2024. Co-organized by Invest Alberta and the Consulate General of Canada in Guangzhou, the event was a chance for potential investors to learn about the rich business opportunities in the Province of Alberta.

Distinguished delegates from various industries gathered for a roundtable discussion to explore the investment prospects and obstacles in Alberta. Consul General Bezhad Babakhan inaugurated the event by emphasizing the robust economic ties between China and Canada and expressed optimism for enhanced collaboration through this platform. Rick Christiaanse, CEO of Invest Alberta Corporation, then made a brief presentation outlining Alberta’s competitive advantages in several areas, including renewable energy and agricultural technology.

Attendees enthusiastically exchanged their expertise and perspectives spanning various industries such as energy, technology, and agriculture. The interactive round-table structure fostered extensive discussions and collaborative efforts in pinpointing investment strategies and opportunities in Alberta.

During the discussion, participants expressed their appreciation for Alberta's rich natural resources and stable political environment, while at the same time providing constructive suggestions on the risks that need to be considered when investing. Overall, the event built a useful platform for the Chinese and Canadian business communities and facilitated the deepening and expanding of co-operation between the two sides.
